While visiting the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show for the first time, years ago, I came across a beautiful, natural color mabe pearl about the size of a quarter. The pearl and the color variances intrigued me. You could see the natural formation of the nacre by the oysterl. I purchased the pearl, not know what I was going to do with it, it just intrigued me.
About two years later, while dealing with a very personal and stressful situation, and the loss of my mother, I was comforted by Matthew 13:45-46. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
That verse spoke to me about my value when I was at one of the lowest points in my life. The merchant sold all that he had for the pearl of great price. Jesus gave all that he had for me, a pearl of great price. That makes me extremely valuable.
I had been contemplating designing a pendant for myself that was very meaningful, utilizing that special pearl that I bought in Tucson years before. Now it all made sense, the pearl represents my value and me. The original pendant is shown below. The pearl represent me, the purple amethyst, royalty and the vine with the leaf that becomes the bail represents Jesus or life.
Because of this original Pearl of Great Price© pendant, many others have wanted this reminder of their value. I have stylized it into two versions, the 18k white gold version and 18k yellow gold version as well as the very popular sterling silver version with 18k yellow gold bezel and accents. An entire collection has now evolved called the Jewelry of Faith Collection.
